Job Title:   SHOP MECHANIC

Reporting to: Operations Manager   Direct Reports: NONE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly) year-round, regular full-time    

Salary and Other Comp: $18-$30 per hour, , supplemental insurance (AFLAC),1 week of Vacation, 1 week of sick pay, 5 paid holidays.

Hours: This is a full-time position; hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Some occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. During snow and ice events 24-hour on call availability is required.

Location: This job operates in an office/shop environment, but mostly out in the field.  Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

The Shop Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of small and large equipment and machinery for the Company.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
• Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary.
• Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance.
• Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
• Orders and installs replacement parts for machines.
• Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines.
• Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently.
• Prepares reports documenting work performed.
• Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies. 
• Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines.
• Collaborates with Operations Manager regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.  
• Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with Operations Manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.  
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Keeps detailed records of services done and tracks services needed. 
• Helps hold team responsible for proper operation and cleanliness of equipment.  

Required Education & Licenses:

• Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.
• Valid CO driver’s license

Required Work Experience and Skills:

• Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
• Experience working on small and larger engines and equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, etc., as well as vehicles.
• Works well independently and with others.
• Good communication skills.
• Organized with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.  
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturday work if necessary.
• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines
• English--fluency in reading, writing, and speaking

Preferred License or Certification:

• ASE Certified Mechanic
• Small engine repair
